About Brian

Brian and Kim Zahn own and operate Zahn Farms in Elkland, MO. We run a small, but growing cow/calf herd of South Poll cattle as well as some hogs, laying chickens, and fruits and vegetables which we market directly to customers and at a local farmers' market.

Brian grew up in Springfield, but had experience with conventional agriculture on his grandfather's and uncle's farms. Although a city girl, Kim is a great help on the farm. After retiring from Springfield Public Schools, we bought our farm and after looking for ways to farm profitably and humanely, Brian found inspiration from Joel Salatin and Greg Judy and became a 2016 graduate of Greg's grazing school. That year we bought our first South Poll cattle from Ralph Voss. We acquired another property this year to accommodate our growing herd.

Brian currently serves as a board member of the Webster Co., MO, Soil and Water Conservation District. We also encourage others to come out to our farm to see how they can reduce inputs, heal their soil, grow more healthful grass, graze many more days of the year and save money to become more profitable, as well as produce some of the best beef available.
