Hi! Thanks for your interest in our ranch. We have been raising South Polls since 2015 when we started convert our “commercial” grassfed herd to a registered South Poll herd. We are in Athens (approximately 1 ½ hours southeast of Dallas). Our only regret with South Polls is that we didn’t make this switch earlier! We were at the 2nd South Poll Field Day and were impressed with the breed, but the thought of selling everything and starting over was daunting. If that is where you are now, we know how you feel. Our family-owned ranch started assembling our herd when South Polls in Texas were almost non-existent. We hired consultants, attended seminars on what to look for when selecting cattle, and we looked at a lot of South Poll cattle . . . a whole lot of cattle. We traveled out of state purchasing cattle in Alabama, Missouri, Louisiana, Georgia, Tennessee, and Kentucky, and brought these South Polls to Texas. Fortunately for you, over the past decade, we have done the work for you. On our ranch you will find: *Registered South Poll Cattle *100% Grass Fed & Finished (each year we work to fine-tune our cover crops for animal and soil health) *Intensive Rotational Grazing and high-stock density (these are tools we use to promote increased utilization of our forage resources, increased rest periods for our pastures, support healthy soil, and increase weight gains on our cattle without additional inputs) *Effective Stockmanship (a method of handling cattle in a way that uses their natural tendencies to get them to move in a more effective way resulting in less stress on the animal and the handler) *Cattle That Fit Our Environment (the heat and humidity of East Texas can be challenging for cattle and we feel South Polls are best adapted to our conditions) *Natural Supplements (sea salt, bentonite clay, apple cider vinegar, etc.) We love talking about our South Polls and South Poll cattle in general so reach out to us if we can help you.
